WW - Ørsnesoffice
In 1902, the shipping company moved its offices to Ørsnesalleen 17.
The company purchased this two-story Swiss-style villa from Wilh. Wilhelmsen's brother-in-law, C.F. Isachsen (manager of the Vestfold Whaling Company). On September 20, 1902, they changed their business address from Storgata 15, Tønsberg, to Ørsnes, Nøtterø Municipality. "Tønsberg" remained the registered home port, but statistically, the tonnage was transferred to Nøtterøy, and the large villa would house the company's administration for the next 15 years.
In September 1917, the shipping company moved its headquarters to Kongens gate 6 (the Maritime Building) in Kristiania.
Ties to Tønsberg and Nøtterøy remained even after the move to Kristiania. Private residences in Tønsberg were retained, and certain office functions continued to take place at the villa in Ørsnes. Tax considerations likely played a role here, and both financial and emotional factors came to the fore in the reaction to F&E's suggestion to re-register the NAAL and NMGL fleets from Tønsberg to Kristiania (see separate page).
